MTN, one of the leading telecommunication company in Ghana with a wide range of products and services available to customers, has recently launched its e-SIM technology to customers who are willing to start using a non-physical SIM in their mobile devices.
In this article, you will learn about the MTN Ghana eSIM service, and how to get and activate it on your mobile device.
What is an eSIM and its Benefits?
An eSIM, or embedded SIM, is a type of SIM card that is built directly into a device, such as a smartphone, Tablet, or smartwatch. This technology allows users to connect to a mobile network without the need for a physical SIM card. The eSIM performs the same function as the physical one except that it only works on electronic SIM enable devices by installing its profile.
One of the main benefits of an eSIM is convenience. With a physical SIM card, users must go through the process of physically inserting the SIM card into their device in order to connect to a mobile network. This can be inconvenient for users who are frequently traveling or switching between devices. With an eSIM, no more worries about SIM damage or any form of fault associated with a physical SIM.
Device compatibility with eSIM
Before thinking of getting or signing up for the MTN eSIM, you need to know if your current device: smartphone, or tablet if it is compatible or not. To check this, dial *#106#. If an EID (Embedded Identity Document) is displayed it means your device supports the eSIM technology, otherwise not.
